ALERT! Final Push Needed to Stop Australia's Tasmanian Ancient Forest Pulping for Throw-Away Paper Consumption

Gunns of Australia's controversial plans to build a huge pulp mill to make disposable consumer items largely from clearfelling ancients forests is close to failing, let us together make a final decisive push to warn off potential investors and environmental approvals and achieve its permanent withdrawal

What worked with ANZ can work with others to end Gunns pulp mill proposalTAKE ACTION! Plans by Australian woodchip giant Gunns Ltd., to continue clearcutting of Tasmania's ancient forests to feed a massive new paper pulp mill [search], appear to be near final collapse [ark]. Gunns is scrambling to raise the cash needed to build the AU$2 billion pulp mill and to meet a looming federal government environmental approval deadline. Chief executive of Leighton Holdings, the proposed builder of the mill, has even stated the project is dead. Join us in supporting massive local protests, and calling upon Australia's Federal Environment Minister Peter Garrett to not extend the environmental approval process, and for the several European pulp interests to steer clear of funding the project or risk years of protest and conflict. Let's join together with local protests and ensure the Gunns pulp mill proposal is permanently withdrawn from consideration. TAKE ACTION!

I am writing to urge you to abandon your ill-considered plans to keep decimating Tasmania's ancient forests to feed a new paper mill. These precious forests are unique ecosystems and critical to the environmental health of the globe and should not be destroyed for short term profits.

Gunns should not only put a stop to this horrendous pulp mill proposal, they must also end the ongoing decimation of ancient forests for woodchips.

You must stop that, the forest you're destroying is not an endless well...the day this forest will ever more be there, you'll try to destroy another one??again and again???it have repercussions on the climax, less trees =more co2,and destruction of different species of trees flowers,insects,animals....think bout it and the alternative ways to 'consume'

To behold such huge challenges to life as we know it and the integrity of Earth; and to see so many pathetic responses to them by politicians and government sinecurists, are abominable signs of a state of dangerous decay, one that is destroying the very heart and soul of political life.

By asking people not to use these forests to make their lives, what we
have left for them to live on? Do we stop those oil speculations as
well? Everything is so dam expensive just because the stupid
speculations, these make the riches richer, the poor poorer! Do
something on these as well, please! This kind of speculation is
actually endangering all human! More people would be forced to do more
than just deforestation!

GUNNS....! in their face/s!
Tasmania urgently needs a Corruption Commission - same as is needed in-Canberra; it is merely a long history of 'appearing clean'(as in Canberra) that has kept corruption more secretly concealed in cold places like Tasmania and Canberra.....JAF Lismore & Braidwood; www

It is outrageous that they chopped down the forest! Only if I have the power to stop them, I definitely will. Gunns is selfish and extremely inconsiderate. He should learn how to share and care for the trees.
