VICTORY: Supreme Court Rebukes Bush re: Climate, Carbon & Car Emissions
The atmospheric system scored a rare victory in the United States' political system, as the Supreme Court in an important climate change [search] test case voted 5-4 that the EPA must regulate automobile's carbon emissions. It was ruled that the Environmental Protection Agency has the authority to regulate carbon dioxide from automobile emissions, and it has shirked its duty in not doing so [more]. Twelve states and 13 campaign groups brought the landmark case against the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Starting Nov. 2006 Ecological Internet campaigned in a unique fashion on this issue, generating ten thousand protest emails to the Supreme Court advising them on the importance of regulating carbon dioxide. Though it is likely no justice ever saw a single one, it was people power finding every pressure point to steer government towards addressing climate change.
There is so much hope in networked communities working on behalf of the Global Earth System.
The momentum is building internally for America to reenter the league of civilized nations and negotiate international mandatory and equitable emission reductions in good faith. We must move swiftly towards a global carbon tax and carbon market regime. And the goal must be rigorous - what it takes to allow the maximum likelihood of the global ecological system absorbing the human climate shock. The focus upon cutting emissions is likely to mean a minimum of 80% greenhouse gas emission cuts by or before 2050.

When can I expect the EPA to pass CO2 emission quotas for individual people? Will I have to wear a mask that measures my CO2 output and alarms if I exceed my limits? Will I be automatically fined if I do exceed my CO2 quota? Will I be able to run my 5 miles a day without exceeding my quota? Will I be able to buy carbon offsets for my breath? What if I just plant a garden? I am scared!

This is incredibly exciting Glen. Good news! And we haven't even Stepped It Up yet... I remember writing the E-mail. Momentum... Momentum...
Momentum... Here we go!

This is not a neighborhod sandlot slow pitch softball game... "we won one." What is wrong with this picture. Check Bjorn Lomborg's prepared remarks for the recent congressional circus which made Gore appear the idiot that he is. IPCC say that the models are not capable of forecasting and are predictive scenarios based on simple linear historical forcing assumptions with parameters fit in stochastic non deterministic orders of magnitude beyond the data set. Theory. Subjective probabilities. It is not possible to establish causality.

You know the other side is getting more than a bit desperate when an Assistant Professor of Finance from U of Chicago is posting on Climate Ark and quoting Lomborg, who is without a doubt one of the world's foremost experts on climate science. Isn't he? Didn't he minor in weather forecasting while getting that degree in statistics from the University of Lutefisk? Or do I have my facts wrong?
At the saying goes, the good doctor David seems to know the price of everything and the value of nothing much.
I suggest you actually read the Supreme Court's decision re: the regulatory authority of the EPA and the legislative history of the Clean Air Act if you want to know why the Court held as they did.

Will it be the first step towards US's approval of Kyoto...? How some one can ignore some thing which is obvious like rising CO2? Is it lack of knowledge or intentionally ignoring?
